Construction survey

Precision surveying that keeps construction moving.

From the first peg to the final as-built, we give contractors, developers and landowners the setout, control and survey data a build depends on, from townhouse developments to large commercial projects.

01Services

Three ways we support a build

Setout

Survey control and setout

Detailed setout of new infrastructure from digital plans, including roading, drainage, kerbs and other services and features, so what is built matches the design.

As-built

As-built plans

We capture the 3D position and description of infrastructure and structures during or after construction, with plans and digital data prepared to council standards.

Volumes

Earthworks volumes

Ground surveys before, during and after earthworks, with volumes calculated in advanced software to support end-of-month contract claims.

03Why survey first

The cost of skipping the site survey.

A thorough site survey analyses the terrain, identifies underground utilities and informs foundation decisions. Without one, projects risk delays, overruns and hazardous errors: boundary violations, unexpected service strikes during excavation, or foundations unsuited to the ground.

A survey also helps confirm the project aligns with zoning rules and the building code, which is essential for approval.

How long does a pre-construction site survey take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the site. Smaller sites might take a few days; larger or more complicated sites can take several weeks.

How often should a site be surveyed during construction?

Beyond the initial survey, periodic surveys during construction and a post-construction survey may be needed to monitor changes and keep the project aligned with the plans and building code.

Can a site survey influence building design?

Yes. Topography and ground information can determine the right foundation type, and the location of utilities can shape the infrastructure layout. Our engineers can help in the design phase so your development meets the building code and achieves a code compliance certificate.

What happens if a discrepancy is found?

Boundary issues or misaligned utilities may require changes to plans, discussions with neighbours or utility companies, or further action. Finding them early avoids larger problems during construction.
